About Perth
The beautiful city of Perth overlooks the vast
and tranquil waters of the Swan River which flows down from the Darling
Ranges.
Perth is a modern city and contrasts with the historic port city of
Fremantle, which is located some 20 minutes drive to the west.
Perth
has been described in many ways by famous people. It was called the
CITY OF LIGHTS by astronaut John Glenn and the MOST ISOLATED CITY IN
THE WORLD by the victorious Americas Cup skipper Dennis Connor.
It also carries the name of the FRIENDLY CITY by the many tourists from
all over the world who have already experienced the joys of unspoilt,
restful Perth.
The outdoors plays a big part in the Perth lifestyle...perhaps a day
on the Swan River, a picnic in the Darling Ranges, a visit to a vineyard
or just a stroll around Perth or Fremantle. Whatever your fancy, make
sure that you complement it by listening to the music of 87.8 Magic
FM.
A variety of city and suburban shops will satisfy even the most avid
tourist's desire to spend. Traditional Australian gifts and garments,
Aboriginal artefacts, colourful opals or Kalgoorlie gold, succulent
local seafoods and tender red meats...as well as fresh vegetables and
plentiful fruit. All of these, and much more, will help all tourists
to relax and enjoy themselves.
Perth's Climate
Perth enjoys a mediterranean climate, with warm to
hot summers and cool wet winters. The summer temperature averages 29
degrees C during the day and 17 degrees C at night. The average winter
temperature is 18 degrees during the day, dropping to 9 degrees at night.
